Our First Bulletin
Hi Rotarians. This is our first newsletter/bulletin and hopefully, time permitting, it will come with a little bit more regularity.
This is to keep all the members up-to-date with all the goings on in the club especially those who can't make it to each meeting. It's always good to have content for these sorts of things so if you have any good stories, send them our way.  Being our first one, it will be quite a simple affair but hopefully, it's the start of good things to come.

We have had an eventful month with our membership night organised by Annmaree, the District Governors visit and supporting Toowoomba North at their Foundation Dinner. We've been scouting around still for a treeplanting plot and we think we've settled on Toowoomba West Special School and Monte Carlo is going full steam ahead. Your District Governor's visit, placed emphasis on us promoting ourselves as opposed to others. What's meant by this, is that when we go to raise money, we tend to just give it away. Why not create our own projects that have our own intrinsic value and interest and let the project itself raise the money - rather than us doing pure fund raising activities. It's a different concept but certainly one of value and one we should all be thinking of.
It's going to be Christmas before we know it and we are really looking forward to Barry's rally on Sunday, 4 December. That's this Sunday! If this is news to you, let us know and we will get you out what you need. The more the merrier!
We'll endeavour to get more communication out just before Christmas but for those who need to make plans, after our AGM this coming Wednesday (please be there!) our next meeting will be the third Wednesday of January 2023.

Monte Carlo is Up & Away
With the wonderful efforts of the Monte Carlo organising committee, the event is looking to be in good shape. Remember, the more the merrier and if you want to get involved contact Corin or Miriam.
Rotary District Conference
The district conference is on in March of next year that is a worthwhile event where you'll get to meet like-minded people and hear of the amazing projects that are going on in our area. It will be inspirational and you can register here:
The Smiths, the Palmers and Wendy have already registered so you'll be in good company!
Blue Cards and Youth Protection
In our recent District Governor's visit, he emphasised the need for Rotarians to have a blue card and to observe the youth protection policy of the organisation. As a Rotarian, you're entitled to a blue card at no cost. I just got mine updated the other day and it was a simple, easy and quick process. Wayne Wright is our youth protection officer and I really would encourage everyone to get a blue card and all you need to do is contact Wayne on the below address and get things started
If you do one thing out of this newsletter, this is the one.  You'll need one for Run the Range.
Tree Planting
Heather and Jamie were very fortunate to get a tour of Toowoomba West Special School during the week. Our own Glenn Gatehouse is the Principal of the school and has been since 2007. At some point next year, we intend to have a meeting there to see the marvellous work that he's done for the very special children under his care. We also looked at a fantastic pot of land where we can plan to 100 trees. More of that to come soon but in the meantime, I've included a picture (above) taken on one of the doors at the school which I think would benefit all of us.
Big congratulations to Tressa and Josh on their wedding last Sunday. Tressa was one of the founding members of our club and has been an integral part of its formation.
At the end of every month, we have drinks on the last Friday of the month. It's a great social occasion to catch up with your mates and let your hair down. November's was at George Banks and the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. Make sure you get along to the next one.  (This photo was after the Carnival float).
